M.PHARM.(PHARMACOLOGY)

Course Duration: 2 years
Affiliation:Veer Madho Singh Bhandari Uttarakhand Technological University, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, State Govt. University & Pharmacy council of India (PCI), New Delhi and AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) New Delhi.
Eligibility: B.Pharm from an institution recognized by the Pharmacy Council of India with minimum of 60% marks (GPAT qualified students shall be given preference).
M. Pharm holders are typically employed in pharmaceutical research and development, as well as laboratories and manufacturing work in the pharmaceutical sector, assessing products for purity and strength. Candidates for master's degrees can also work as lecturers in pharmacy colleges and universities. The Master of Pharmacy (Pharmacology) degree programme is designed to give advanced instruction in pharmacology, molecular biology, pre-clinical and clinical drug development, and pharmacotherapeutics. The student will learn about drug pharmacology, practical aspects of pharmacological screening for diverse medicinal agents using an animal model, pharmacological calculations, biological standardisation, and in-vivo drug interactions and toxicity studies during the course.

Pharmacology emerged in the nineteenth century as a new biomedical discipline that used scientific research methods to therapeutic circumstances. This field explores the methods through which pharmaceuticals modify biological systems in order to improve health and alleviate sickness. The evaluation of the effects of chemical agents on subcellular systems, the possible risks of pesticides and herbicides, and a focus on the treatment and prevention of major diseases through drug therapy are all examples of pharmacological studies.
Toxicology is a branch of pharmacology that studies the mechanisms through which medications and substances in the environment cause harmful side effects. The molecular foundation of drug action, drug activities on cells, organs, and organisms, genetic variations in drug action, and drug discovery are all covered by these fields.

Areas of research- TSIP Dehradun's Department of Pharmacology has made numerous contributions to pharmacology research.
• The department's goal is to prepare exceptional students for productive and successful careers in the pharmaceutical industry, academia, research, and corporate sectors.
• The department's goal is to prepare exceptional students for productive and successful careers in the pharmaceutical industry, academia, research, and corporate sectors.
• CPCSEA has approved the department's centralised animal house for performing experiments on mice, rats, Guinea pigs, and rabbits.
Career Opportunities-

The field of pharmacology is rapidly developing in terms of drug discovery, development, and rationale for therapeutic applications. It encompasses knowledge of drug sources, chemical qualities, biological effects, molecular mechanisms, and therapeutic applications in its whole. Pharmacologists are also active in drug molecular modelling and the use of medications as instruments to study cell function. Over the last decade, the field of pharmacology has grown tremendously to include many new methodologies such as computer-assisted drug design, genetic screens, protein engineering, and the use of novel drug delivery vehicles like as viruses and artificial cells.
In India and worldwide, trained pharmacologists can expect rewarding jobs in academia, pharmaceutical industries, contract research organisations, drug regulatory agencies, and pharmacovigilance.
